Self-driving cars are expected to yield strong societal and economical benefits. However, they also present important implications for safety and accountability of drivers and other road users alike. In this talk, we will explore issues and value conflicts generated by this new technology, and discuss potential avenues to address them. In that respect, Giulio Mecacci will present some contributions provided by the TU Delft research project “Meaningful Human Control over Automated Driving Systems”.
