Bezetting Academiegebouw: SUCCESS!

Om te eisen dat de Rijksuniversiteit Groningen zijn verantwoordelijkheden neemt omtrent de huisvestingscrisis hebben wij gisteren samen met onder andere DAG en ROOD de trappen van het Academiegebouw bezet! Uiteindelijk werden deze eisen tegen het eind van de avond ingewilligd door het bestuur! De universiteit heeft toegezegd aan de volgende vier eisen:

1. Alle noodhuisvesting wordt gratis
2. De universiteit verkleint de groeiambitie
3. Lege kantoren worden omgebouwd tot woonruimte
4. De universiteit zal zich uitspreken tegen het groei-georiënteerde financieringsmodel

To demand that the University of Groningen takes its responsibility concerning the housing shortage, DWARS, together with DAG and ROOD, occupied the Academy Building yesterday. Later in the night, the board of the university agreed to our four demands:

1. All of the university’s emergency housing will be made available for free at once
2. The university promises not to accept even more students next year. First solutions for the severe crisis should be found
3. The university will negotiate turning empty offices into student housing with the local municipal council
4. The university will publicly speak out against the current growth-oriented allocation model of higher education
