Collection campaign for AZC Ter Apel
06 October 2022On Sunday 2 October, DWARS Utrecht went door-to-door collecting blankets and sleeping bags for the AZC in Ter Apel. Many people are still queuing outside from early morning until late at night and some nights people even have to sleep outside. Warm and dry sleeping bags and blankets are badly needed, which is why we went out in the Vogelen neighbourhood to collect them.
We got a really great response from local residents and everyone was enthusiastic. We collected a bin full of blankets as you can see on the photos. It was quite a job to cycle through Utrecht with the cargo bike (which was really huge), especially because there was a marathon running through Utrecht at the time. But it was a great experience.
The organisation MiGreat has set up collection points throughout the country. We took the collected blankets and sleeping bags there and they will make sure the items get to the right place.
