Motions can be submitted at a ward congress. A motion is a call to the (next) board to do something. At the very bottom of this page are the adopted motions from past departmental congresses.

Departmental song

Noting that DWARS Groningen has a departmental song and DWARS Utrecht has no departmental song

...noting that DWARS members find having a department song incredibly fun

...Calls on the 2020/2021 board to present a departmental song at the next AAV (preferably to the tune of ‘When I stand atop the cathedral’).

Candidate committee for DWARS Utrecht. Maybe? or not? huh? Crazy title

Noting that board members sometimes want to continue for another term and there are sometimes several candidates per vacant position ...

...noting that it can be annoying to have to report to a group that might also be candidates, it can be nice if there is an opinion on candidates, applications can be off-putting and the submitter is too stupid to decide whether it is desirable to actually put this in place

...Calls on the board, after consultation with the national board member Organisation & Members, to consider having a Utreg search committee, candidate committee or application committee voted in at the next AAV.

Well-informed DWARSers

Noting that DWARSers are concerned about the climate crisis, and therefore participate in protests, regular actions of a legal nature, such as climate marches, have so far not led to somewhat sufficient policies to combat climate change, civil disobedience actions are therefore regularly organised by groups such as Extinction Rebellion and Code ROOD, and the action policy of DWARS nationwide states that the DWARS board may not actively promote this kind of controversial action, but may make positive statements about its existence and usefulness

...noting that the climate crisis is urgent, there are young people at DWARS who do not know about civil disobedience actions, while it can be valuable for them to participate in such actions on their own behalf and informing is not the same as promoting

...calls on the board of DWARS Utrecht in 2020-2021 to actively inform members about various climate protests, both civil disobedience and regular, taking place this year. In doing so, members may only be called upon to participate in regular actions.

Vice-presidency-elect

Calls on all attendees of AAV Utrecht to agree to elected vice-president, in combination with one of the other positions.

5 + 1 = 6th board member

Calls on all attendees of the General Branch Meeting of DWARS Utrecht on 4 July 2019 with voting rights to approve the new position of ‘Board Member Political’ for incoming Board of DWARS Utrecht.

The General Branch Meeting of DWARS Utrecht, convened in Utrecht on 10 January

Noting that anyone can now submit motions, provided they know the name of one of the members DWARS Utrechts.

Whereas this is an undesirable course of action as it facilitates identity fraud and allows unsavoury sujets (namely non-members) to provide input to our democratic process.

Calls on the ward management to come up with a way of submitting motion next time that avoids this undesirability. 

And moves on to the order of business.

Noting that there are Provincial Council elections and European Parliament elections this year.

Whereas GroenLinks can win many votes in Utrecht, we have many DWARSe candidates including board member Jens and it is important that we fight for a green and left-wing Netherlands.

A hat, that isn't bad!

...noting that:

1. Wearing a special attribute, such as a hat, contributes to the chairman's recognition and visibility during official activities.
2. Symbolic garments can emphasise the official nature of meetings and enhance the atmosphere of activities.
3. The Vice President of DWARS is an appropriate person to choose a representative and appropriate Chairperson's hat because of their insight and commitment to the organisation.
4. Wearing an official Chairman's hat can be a playful and recognisable addition to the identity of DWARS Utrecht.
5. The choosing of the hat by the Vice President of DWARS National can form a symbolic connection between the local and national chapters.

Calls on the DWARS Utrecht board to:

1. Decide that the President of DWARS Utrecht should wear an official President's hat at the beginning of every official DWARS Utrecht activity.
2. To determine that this Chairman's Hat will be chosen by the Vice Chairman of DWARS National.
3. To establish a special Hat Committee, consisting of members of DWARS Utrecht, to be charged with:
4. Writing reviews of the Chairman's Hat as members see fit. b. Sending these reviews to OverDWARS, DWARS’ national member's newspaper. c. Assessing the appropriateness of the Chairman's Hat and making suggestions for change to the Vice Chairman if necessary.

Saskia = slay

 ...noting that:

1 Saskia Kluit is a great Senate member. 2 Saskia Kluit is slay.

3 Saskia Kluit lives in Utrecht.

Calls on the board to declare that Saskia Kuit is an honorary member of DWARS Utrecht.

 Anti-stress caterpillars

 ...noting that:

1 DWARS Utrecht activities can cause (social) anxiety, stress or nervosity for many people and this makes activities less accessible

2 Stress toys can help against this fear, stress or nervousness

3 We as Utrecht are the best department and the best department needs mascots

4 Mascots need a name

Calls for:

1. Three small stress toys in the shape of cute caterpillars, supplied by DWARS Utrecht member Eliza Alexandra Hofstra, to be named as official DWARS Utrecht mascots and to be made them available during activities to members who want to use them as stress toys
2. To organise a member consultation to give these mascots names

And noting that it would be nice if there were commentary about the candidates and the rejection applications. And noting that the submitter is too dumb to decide whether it is desirable to actually do this to enter...

... Calls on the board, after consultation with the national board member Organisation & Membership, to consider having a University search committee, candidate committee or application committee vote at the next AAV.

Vice-Presidency elected

Calls on all attendees of the AAV Utrecht to agree to the elected vice-presidency, in combination with one of the other positions.

Calls on all attendees of the General Department Meeting of DWARS Utrecht on July 4th 2019 with the right to vote to agree to the new position of ‘board member for politics’ for the upcoming board of DWARS Utrecht.

The General Departmental Meeting of DWARS Utrecht, assembled in Utrecht on January 1oth.

Knowing that anyone can now submit motions if they know the name of one of the members of DWARS Utrecht.

Noting that this is an undesirable state of affairs, as it encourages identity fraud and allows unsavoury individuals (i.e. non-members) to contribute to our democratic process.

Calls on the divisional management to devise a way of submitting motions next time that prevents this undesirability. 

Knowing that there are Provincial Council elections and European Parliamentary elections this year.

Noting that GroenLinks can obtain many votes in Utrecht, we have many DWARS candidates including board member Jens and it is important that we fight for a green and left country...
