Huizen voor mensen, niet voor winst!
Wij zijn in woonopstand en maken op 17 oktober met een brede coalitie een gezamenlijke vuist. Steeds meer mensen, jong en oud, huurders en kopers, worden geraakt door de wooncrisis. Het is de hoogste tijd voor een radicaal ander woonbeleid.
De afgelopen decennia is de woononzekerheid ook in Nederland toegenomen. De dakloosheid is verdubbeld en de woningnood is geëxplodeerd. Het huren is geflexibiliseerd en veel mensen wonen noodgedwongen tijdelijk, onzeker of te duur. Sociale huurwoningen worden op grote schaal verkocht, gesloopt en geliberaliseerd. Sociaal huren wordt gemarginaliseerd, terwijl de vrije huursector duur en onzeker is. Ook zijn koopwoningen voor velen onbereikbaar. Woonlasten stijgen. Huisuitzettingen nemen toe. En minder kapitaalkrachtigen worden verdrongen uit de stad, terwijl ook de middeninkomens tussen wal en schip vallen. Tegelijkertijd slaan beleggers en speculanten hun slag: voor hen zijn woningen handelswaar, wereldwijd de veiligste investering voor wie winst wil maken. Dit alles is het gevolg van bewust politiek beleid.

Housing for people, not for profit!
We are in a housing revolt and will make a joint fist with a broad coalition on 17 October. More and more people, young and old, tenants and buyers, are being affected by the housing crisis. It is high time for a radically different housing policy.
Housing insecurity has also increased in the Netherlands in recent decades. Homelessness has doubled and the housing shortage has exploded. Renting has become more flexible and many people are forced to live temporarily, insecurely or too expensively. Social rental housing is sold, demolished and liberalized on a large scale. Social renting is marginalised, while the private rental sector is expensive and uncertain. Homes for sale are also out of reach for many. Housing costs are rising. Home evictions are on the rise. And the less wealthy are being pushed out of the city, while the middle incomes are also falling between two stools. At the same time, investors and speculators are taking their chances: for them, housing is a commodity, the safest investment worldwide for those who want to make a profit. All this is the result of deliberate political policy.
