Thema-avond: Migratie met de Commissie Internationaal

Migratie is een groot thema. Van mensen die vluchten voor oorlog en armoede, tot internationale studenten en expats. Ook als we kijken naar vluchtelingen zijn er veel verschillende verhalen te horen. Verhalen die niet altijd even eerlijk over de werkelijkheid zijn, of zelfs de mensen achter de verhalen weglaten. Er zijn allemaal redenen waarom mensen op zoek gaan naar een nieuw en veilig thuis. Denk aan geweld, politieke onrust en discriminatie. Maar hoe komt het dat mensen moeten vluchten? Wat vertelt de geschiedenis ons? Hoe wordt nu met vluchtelingen omgegaan? Welke rol speelt de EU hierbij? En bovenal: hoe ziet de toekomst er uit?

Op deze avond gaan de Commissie Internationaal en DWARS Gelderland in gesprek met verschillende mensen over al deze vragen. Tineke Strik is Europarlementariër voor GroenLinks. Zij houdt zich onder meer bezig met mensenrechten en vluchtelingen. Andere gasten maken we binnenkort bekend.

De avond begint met een terugblik op de geschiedenis van vluchten. Vervolgens zullen we ingaan op hoe er om wordt gegaan met vluchtelingen in de EU. Tot slot zullen we ons verdiepen in de situatie van LHBTQIA+-vluchtelingen. De avond wordt afgesloten met een discussie over de ontwikkelingen nu, en hoe en welke vraagstukken we in de toekomst zullen zien.
