Khadija Arib voted Politician of the Year 2018

DWARS launched an alternative election of Politician of the Year 2018 as the nominations for Politician of the Year by EenVandaag were five men. With the election, DWARS expresses appreciation for top female politicians.
Arib is parliamentary speaker and MP on behalf of the PvdA, and one of the longest-serving MPs. with her strict yet fair chairing style, she is loved by the public, a public she also listens well to when necessary. Arib competed against the other nominations of DWARS: Lilian Marijnissen, Carola Schouten, Judith Sargentini and Sigrid Kaag. With over 33% of the votes, Khadija Arib managed to secure herself the win. In second place was Sigrid Kaag, while in third place was Judith Sargentini. Both Kaag and Sargentini secured about 21% of votes.
Although Sigrid Kaag narrowly missed out on the title by taking second place, she received earlier this month already an award from DWARS: the DWARSe Politician of the Year. This is an award that DWARS gives out every year to a politician who continued to stand for the cause against the grain.
