Ameland wants to be self-sufficient in sustainable energy and water by 2020; all the energy and water the island needs must then be produced directly on or around the island. This makes Ameland the first municipality to have this ambition at this short notice. Our secretary Jeroen is doing his research internship at the Energy Transition Centre.
We will start with a tour at 16:00 to 16:30, followed by a knowledge café until 17:00. In this knowledge café, Alex van den Berg will speak with engineer Richard Beekhuis of TNO about the research into sustainable energy technology and energy transition; and with Energy and Behaviour expert Carina Wiekens of the Hanzehogeschool about the impact this energy transition has on the residents of Ameland.
