DWARSo influence candidate list

13 November 2020

GroenLinks's draft list of candidates for the Lower House elections is known! It contains a huge number of young candidates, which DWARS can only be very proud of. From today, 14 November, members of GroenLinks can vote for the list. You will then receive an e-mail containing all the information you need. Still, there are some candidates we would like to get even higher on the list. With your help, we will succeed!

This is not a kind of 'ideal list', but which people we would like to see higher up the list. So we put Romano at #2, not because we want Corinne gone in that spot, but because that's how we give him the best chance of ending up in an electable spot. This has to do with the technicality of the voting system. The higher you vote someone, the more likely they are to actually move up the list.

The candidates

  1. Romano Boshove

Romano is 24 years old and is currently in position 33. He is group chairman of GroenLinks Hardenberg and has been hugely active within DWARS for years. In the municipal council, he fiercely campaigns against gas extraction and for an inclusive municipality. A real DWARSer on the list.

  1. Kauthar Bouchallikht

Kauthar was president of the Green Muslims Foundation and served as a campaigner for the Climate March, The Housing Union, FNV, Greenpeace, Environmental Defence and Oxfam Novib. She is 26 years old and is on the draft list at spot 9. She has enormously broad expertise and is indispensable on the list!

  1. Simion Blom

After the Black Lives Matter movement swept the world, there cannot be a single black person on GroenLinks's top-10 list. DWARS fights for a diverse candidate list in addition to representing young people. Simion Blom is 31 years old and a city councillor in Amsterdam. He fights for a more diverse and inclusive society in the capital.

  1. Martine Doppen

Martine is 27 years old and ranked 37. She has been speaking out against gender inequality, racism and the climate crisis for years. She has also been active at Milieudefensie the Young Environmentalists. In collaboration with DWARS, she worked on a lobbying project for sustainable travel within Europe during the climate negotiations.

And then how do you fill out the rest of the list? By reading up on the other candidates. DWARS understands that this can be difficult and is therefore happy to give you voting advice on the rest of the top 20 as well.
