Vacancy Core group Activist Network

We are looking for new members for the core group of DWARS's activist network!

What does the core group of the activist network do?

Currently, the activist network is starting up. The core group has several tasks:

  • Help set up and coordinate the activist network
  • (Co-)organise actions and demonstrations or facilitate participation in actions and demonstrations
  • Support and advise on actions of other bodies of DWARS
  • Raise awareness of activism among DWARSers in an accessible way and enthuse DWARSers about campaigning
  • Researching how we as DWARS can participate in civil disobedience actions

The core group decides for itself what it engages in. However, everything is done in close consultation with the national board. The national board is ultimately responsible for the external activities of the activist network that take place under the banner of DWARS.

The core group meets once every two to three weeks. Sometimes there are extra meetings in between, for instance to respond to a particular current event. For offline meetings, we eat together at the expense of DWARS. Travel expenses to the meeting can be claimed via the claim form on the website.

You will be a core group coordinator for at least one year.

What does a core group coordinator do?

The core group coordinators will each have their own set of tasks. This division will be made by mutual agreement, but at least the following tasks will be divided:

  • External relations, including with the national board, with DWARSe chapters, committees and members, and with other social movement organisations
  • Internal communication, such as keeping track, preparing meetings, and mail management
  • External communication, such as preparing promotion for actions
  • Getting people excited
  • Presenting

For each action, in addition, you often have logistical or creative tasks that are divided between them.

Campaigning can be very unpredictable. Sometimes you work longer towards a bigger action, sometimes you are busy with a spontaneous action. It is nice if you are flexible in your time and willing to pick up things in between, but you also have a lot of freedom to engage in the actions and tasks you like best! Keep in mind about 5 hours per week.

Who are you?
As a coordinator, it is important to be able or willing to learn the following:

  • You are enthusiastic and know how to motivate others too
  • You are proactive and enjoy tackling various tasks
  • You are flexible and stress-resistant
  • You can think creatively
  • You can communicate well

Even if you can't do this yet, that's not a problem. The important thing is that you are eager to learn and enthusiastic!
