Vacancy chairman Law and Democracy Committee

The Law & Democracy Committee is looking for a chairperson!

What does the Law and Democracy Committee do?

The committee talks about democratic issues. For example, we deal with current affairs. We also learn more together about topics such as referendums, the democratic rule of law and talk about the DWARSe positions on these. We also sometimes organise activities. Before the meetings, we eat together at DWARS's expense. Travel expenses to the meeting can be claimed.

What does the chairman do?

The chairperson creates the agenda and leads the meetings. The chair also enthuses the committee members and is the point of contact for new members. The chairperson provides an overview of the committee's projects, such as organising an activity. The chairman does this, for example, by approaching speakers. Together with the secretary, the chairman ensures that the committee runs smoothly and has a good atmosphere. The chairman also keeps in touch with the Political Secretary and goes to Political Consultations.

In the week of an activity or meeting, this function takes more time, but less in other weeks. You will also be working on it mostly in the evening, as that is when the meetings and activities are. You will spend about 2 hours a week on it.

Who are you?

As president, it is important to want to learn or be able to do the following:

  • organising activities and meetings
  • are interested in the topics related to law & democracy
  • communicate well

Even if you can't do this yet, that's not a problem. The important thing is that you are eager to learn and enthusiastic!
