Property update: DWARS remains on its own floor
09 January 2024Lately, we have been updating you on the decision we had to make about DWARS's accommodation. The choice had to be made between staying on the mezzanine floor or moving to the fifth floor to move in with GroenLinks. Financially, moving in with GroenLinks was favourable, but this is where questions of principle came up as to whether we wanted to be so close to GroenLinks.
We have been negotiating with GroenLinks recently. We also listened to your input and had extensive discussions within the board. In the end, we came to the decision to extend the entresol for three years from 2025.
The option we were given at GroenLinks did not give us the right space for our growing association. It is important for us to give everyone a nice place to come along to DWARS. The principle argument also played a big role for us: we are independent and therefore want our own space. In addition, the option to stay on the mezzanine proved financially bearable, partly because of a financial windfall due to the growth of GroenLinks in the Lower House. Also, GroenLinks is accommodating us in the cost of renting the mezzanine. We are keeping in close contact with GroenLinks to improve our current premises. For instance, we are moving towards improving our meeting room - Room O - so that the premises remain future-proof.
If you have any questions about how we arrived at this decision and what it means for the association, please contact Ruben at ruben@dwars.org
