Sadet Karabulut named DWARSe politician of the year
18 November 2020DWARS has named Sadet Karabulut as DWARSe politician of the year. The award is given every year to a politician, from a party other than GroenLinks, who is committed to our society in a DWARSe way. Karabulut was previously a municipal councillor in Amsterdam and now dedicates herself as a member of parliament for the SP. Karabulut is known as a pacifist: she is against the use of violence.
For the past few months, a referendum was open among our members where they could vote. Other nominees were Renske Leijten (SP), Kirsten van den Hul (PvdA) and Esther Ouwehand (Party for the Animals). Most votes went to Karabulut who fights for equality and peace in an unstable world. In addition, Karabulut is an activist at heart. She used to work at the National Students' Union (LSVb) and she also demonstrates now.
On Wednesday, November 25, DWARS president Sabine Scharwachter will go on online conversation with Karabulut. Members of DWARS can watch this conversation online, including the opportunity to ask questions to the MP.
