Rick in the media on left-wing collaboration and Frans Timmermans

24 August 2023

Recently, our chairman Rick Timmermans has had several media appearances. In these, he talked about DWARS's view on cooperation with the Labour Party and the candidacy of Frans Timmermans as leader of the joint list.

On the radio programme Spraakmakers, Rick briefly commented on the result of the GroenLinkse member referendum on the joint group. He indicated that DWARS believes that after 13 years of neoliberal policies, the Netherlands is yearning for a strong left-wing sound, and that DWARS was therefore happy with the result. However, he added that DWARS remains committed to a bright green as well as bright red sound in the cooperation.

Listen to the clip here back (from 14:30).

In TV programme News Hour and radio programme Looking forward to tomorrow he explained how we look at Frans Timmermans' candidate as a list leader. At Nieuwsuur, Rick indicated that Timmermans is obviously not the most young and diverse candidate, and that it is important that Timmermans continues to listen to the interests of young people. At Looking forward to tomorrow Rick, together with Young Socialists president Bob den Ouden, spoke at length about the importance of a young, diverse and DWARSe candidate list, so that young people feel represented.

See here the broadcast of Nieuwsuur back (from 11:20 it is about Frans Timmermans) and listen here the excerpt from With an eye on tomorrow back.
