Retrospective GroenLinks-PvdA congress: speech and motions!

Last week, GroenLinks and the Labour Party held their conventions at Omnisport in Apeldoon. There, our chairman Rick gave a speech, and our board members Pepijn and Thijme defended a DWARSe motion and proposal to highlight LGBT rights within the party. Time for a quick recap!

True to tradition, Rick got to speak at the GroenLinks congress as president of DWARS. His message? At DWARS, we have been 'fighting for what is vulnerable' for years, as an old election slogan of GroenLinks also goes. And we, together with GL-PvdA, must continue to do so in the time to come. For young people, who cannot find housing due to right-wing decisions, or have thousands of euros of study debt. For the climate, because our generation is going to feel the effects of the climate crisis even harder in the coming years. And, for Gaza, where a possible genocide is taking place. GL-PvdA must be there for them all!

Besides the speech, we spoke with DWARS at the motion that stood up against non-inclusive proposals within our parties. Thijme's input can be viewed at here revisit.

It also has Pepin voiced for the DWARSe motion, in which we called for the number of signatures needed to submit an amendment to the GroenLinks-PvdA election manifestos to be reduced from 100 to 50. Unfortunately, the motion narrowly missed the mark, but we were close (44.64% in favour, 55.36% against).
