Minimum age DWARS lowered: 'Everyone should be able to participate'

DWARS lowers minimum age 

DWARS has been advocating for more youth participation in politics for years. "It is important that we have a say in our future. I wanted to become a member from the age of 10, but my mother wouldn't let me and I had to wait until my 14th birthday" says chairperson Hiske Scholtens.

From today, DWARS is immediately applying its own philosophy within its own association; people as young as 8 years old may now join the youth branch of GroenLinks. The board is looking forward to the youth of today starting to pour in extra now. After all, as chairman Hiske Scholtens said at the GroenLinks congress, "He who has the youth has the future".

Scholtens says she is happy for all the children who wanted to join before and at the same time regrets that she had to wait 4 years. "So from today, that will no longer be necessary."
