Measures COVID-19 virus

12 March 2020

Dear members of DWARS,

Following the spread of the Covid-19 virus, DWARS is taking a number of measures to further prevent the spread of the virus and limit its potential harm, particularly within its own organisation. These measures have been determined in consultation with GroenLinks and inclusiveness considerations have also been taken into account. The advice from the government and the RIVM is the basis of our measures and is also guiding the considerations we make.We appeal to all members, and especially members who organise activities, to take these rules to heart. Preventing and limiting further spread of the virus is something that must be done through a concerted approach. Take no chances. The rules below are valid indefinitely (until further notice). The rules for meetings are valid at least until 6 April. The rules may be further tightened when necessary.

  • Board members and the staff member work from home as much as possible and only come to the office when really necessary. In the office (DWARS and GL), we follow RIVM advice: wash hands often, do not shake hands, sneeze at the elbow, throw away handkerchiefs, etc. Cleaning instructions are also adapted to the situation.
  • We ask members from Brabant as well as members with health complaints such as colds, coughs and/or fevers not to attend meetings (activities and meetings) of DWARS. We ask the same of people who have been in risk areas or have family members or housemates with such health complaints.
  • Meetings on the premises of GroenLinks and DWARS do not take place in physical form. The bodies and board members organising these meetings may decide to organise the meeting via Skype/online. Occasional small-group meetings, such as the cash audit, can go ahead.
  • The participation of DWARS in the March Against Racism, the Climate Crisis masterclass, DWARS on the Road on March 21, the Board Day, the test run of the formation game and regular meetings of all bodies up to March 31 will be cancelled and will not continue in physical form. The bodies and board members organising these meetings may decide to organise the meeting via Skype/online.
  • On Tuesday 17 March, during a digital board meeting, we will reconsider participation in the climate strike, the symposium, the 2 April PO and the long trip. Subsequent meetings will be reconsidered at a later date if necessary.
  • We do not recommend organising meetings of fewer than 10 people in the wards. Do so only if strictly necessary. The judgement on this lies with the relevant departmental committee. We ask members living in Brabant and members with health problems not to participate.
  • Organising meetings of more than 10 people, including in departments, can only be done after consultation and after explicit permission from the LB. Urgency also plays a role here. Organisation of meetings of more than 100 people do not go ahead anyway.

We understand that these are quite tough measures and we are asking a lot from you, but hope for your understanding and thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Kind regards, National Board DWARS
