Manifesto: Be mindful of the current reception crisis

Recent years have seen a reception crisis, with the low point of asylum seekers being forced to sleep outside the application centre in Ter Apel. Other problems, such as a backlog in basic registration and the subsequent waiting time for a BSN number, make it harder for asylum seekers to fit in with Dutch society. The IND also faces problems and can barely cope with asylum applications.
The new outline agreement does not provide answers and solutions to this crisis. The agreement mainly takes measures to provide long-term solutions, while the current reception crisis no attention gets. On the contrary, the scrapping of the Spreading Act and the lack of policy intentions to promote outflows will make the reception crisis aggravated. COA and IND, which are already grossly overstretched, need stable funding but are instead facing budget cuts.
Call to Cabinet Schoof: be mindful of the current reception crisis, meet implementing organisations and fight the current crisis in the reception chain.
Specifically, initiators call for proper reception of asylum seekers, which requires proper distribution of reception centres. The Spreading Act should be cherished in this regard. VNG and IPO have indicated that they appreciate this act. It is also good that there will be stability in reception locations, so that any higher influx in the future will not lead to problems in the reception chain. There is a great need for sustainable reception locations. This will prevent dragging asylum seekers back and forth and substandard integration.
