Iris at BNR: Help Young People in Youth Care even after they turn 18
01 February 2023Last Friday, our president, Iris, was again on BNR breaks, a radio programme where the news of the day is discussed.
Other guest was Joram van Velzen, president of the national student union. Together with the radio host, they discussed current news. These included the divisions between city, countryside and politics.
Iris also brought a news item of her own: the situation regarding youth care. Currently, it is in fact the case that you can get help from youth welfare until the age of 18. After that, you are an adult and have to look after yourself. One in five young people who come out of youth care therefore become homeless after the age of 18.
