Boxing gloves for Frans Timmermans: farewell gift board 23-24

21 June 2024

At the Summer Conference, we already spilled the beans a bit: Rick would give a farewell gift to Frans Timmermans on behalf of the outgoing board. And not just any gift, but a gift that will be of real use to Frans in the near future: boxing gloves for the political arena. An encouragement to occasionally fight a little harder for the DWARSe values in the coming period. Want to see how Frans received the gloves? Check this video

In addition to recording the video, the outgoing board and new chairman Minne had a productive conversation with Frans about the GL-PvdA opposition strategy, in which we further urged Frans to be more fierce in opposition and stop reaching out to VVD and NSC in the coming period. Now that both parties have signed a coalition agreement with the far-right, we also need to make them feel what that means. GroenLinks-PvdA is therefore not going to help the new coalition get a majority in the coming period if they themselves disagree, except in very exceptional cases. Handshakes to VVD and NSC will also come to an end, and the only goal in the coming period will be new elections.

We look back on the conversation and video with a positive feeling, and continue to urge GL-PvdA and Frans to liberate their inner left-wing street fighters, especially against Yeşilgöz and Omtzigt.
