DWARSe Vote on GroenLinks-PvdA Utrecht

01 November 2025

Last election congress of GL-PvdA Utrecht was a special one. For the first time, GroenLinks and the PvdA organised a joint ALV and the PolitiCie of DWARS Utrecht was present. As a committee, we tabled a number of amendments, almost all of which were adopted. This is something to be proud of and offers perspective for future moments when we, as DWARS
can have a say.

First, we tabled an amendment for inclusive text changes. These were changes towards more inclusive and gender-neutral language in the election manifesto. This amendment was eventually dealt with as five separate treatments. We also tabled an amendment on menstrual poverty. We believe that everyone should have access to menstrual products.

We also tabled an amendment to the housing plans. We called for making the term ‘affordable’ less vague and explicitly linking it to lower middle-income, first-time buyers, young people and single people as target groups. This amendment was the only one discouraged and ultimately not adopted. We also had an amendment that ensured that we could start making the transition from child to adult easier by, for instance, organising events for that purpose in schools. Finally, an amendment was tabled to also actively include MBO students in democratic participation and education.

All in all, we are satisfied and this is a good start for the restarted PolitiCie. The big goal of this committee is, of course, to keep GroenLinks Utrecht on its toes and make adjustments where necessary, and we have been able to do so. We look forward to the next moments when this will be possible and of course hope to make the DWARSe sound even louder in Utrecht.
