Critical GroenLinks
06 November 2021At the general membership meeting of GroenLinks Utrecht next Sunday
A motion on the manifesto of New Critical
GroenLinks. What exactly does this mean? And how does the motion work? And why is it
so important that young people and DWARSers vote for it?
New Critical GroenLinks is a group of members of GroenLinks who are critical of
the party's current line. This is about several issues. For instance, the platform
critical of the party's (lack of) diversity policy. It also moves
GroenLinks moving further and further away from activist, pacifist and radical vision
from which the party emerged. Finally, the promoters see the party
is becoming hierarchical.
A good example of the latter point is GroenLinks in the
formation negotiations with the Labour Party. Instead of consulting members
on this drastic move, which is not only strategic but also political
content, GroenLinks had a members' meeting. While the Labour Party has plenty of
motions were tabled, a GroenLinks member could have no real influence on
this choice.
The motion to be voted on next Sunday,
This manifesto is especially important for young people. We have set our sights on the
future and long-term oriented, because the choices politicians make now give us
going to hit. In addition, there is an even greater distance between the young members and the
politics, sometimes we can't even vote yet. That is why we as
DWARS Utrecht tabled a motion for the general membership meeting
coming Sunday.
This motion calls on the board to inform the members of GroenLinks of
the manifesto and engage with members. In addition, there is a call to
for the municipal elections in March 2022 to allow members to
vote on the manifesto so that GroenLinks Utrecht can comment on it
speaking.
As DWARS Utrecht, we support the message of New Critical GroenLinks, and
we call on all young people to vote for the motion this Sunday.
See you then!
