Vacancies DWARS Rotterdam-Rijnmond
As of May 2022, DWARS Rotterdam-Rijnmond is looking for new board members! These are the positions of chairman, secretary, treasurer and a general board member. The board of DWARS Rotterdam-Rijnmond deals with the day-to-day running of the department and ensures that the department is kept running. This includes holding meetings, organising actions and activities, contact with members, financial matters and liaising with external parties. Below, the various functions will be explained more specifically. The job descriptions given here are as they are currently distributed; they can always be changed.

Job descriptions
Chairman (approx. 10 hours per week)
As chairman, you are the department's first point of contact and also ultimately responsible. You ensure that the department is kept running and everyone fulfils their tasks. As chairman, it is important that you know the department and want to move it forward. You are flexible, analytical (can keep an overview), good at communicating and you take the lead when necessary.
Within the position of chairman, you will deal with various tasks:
- Meetings
As chairman, you lead meetings with members, prepare the agenda for these meetings and invite members. You also lead and prepare the board meetings.
- Contact DWARS nationwide
As chairman, you are the first point of contact for the board and committee members of DWARS nationwide. You liaise with your departmental buddy, board members of other departments and participate in chairmen's meetings organised by the national board. At the beginning of a new board term, you and your board members also draw up a policy plan for your department and communicate it to national.
- Contact external parties
Within the position of chairman, you are the first contact person for external parties. This includes contacts with other political youth organisations in Rotterdam, the fraction and board of GroenLinks Rotterdam, the press, other parties and organisations, and SPJO (Stichting Samenwerkende Politieke Jongeren Organisaties). As chairman, you attend the group meetings of GroenLinks Rotterdam on a weekly basis. Contact with other political youth organisations usually takes place to organise joint activities, debates or press releases.
- Month of Greening and Eureka Week
As chairman, you and the other board members will be involved in setting up and devising activities for Greening Month in September. For this, you lead meetings, divide tasks and set up activities yourself. For the Eureka week, you maintain contact with the organisation from SPJO and Erasmus University and make sure our stall at the information market is provided with volunteers and promotional material.
- Coordinating actions and activities
As chairman, you make sure that actions and activities are well organised. You support new initiatives and help where necessary. In this, you are mainly a process monitor. In addition, you sometimes organise activities yourself.
- Other tasks
As chairman, you keep track of and answer the chairman's email. As chairman, it is also important to ensure that there is a proper division of tasks among the board members and that they are properly carried out. Furthermore, (board) members can always come to you with questions or problems they encounter within the department.
Secretary (approx. 6 hours per week)
As secretary, you are mainly concerned with internal communication within the department. You are the first to make contact with new members and have an important role during meetings. As secretary, it is important that you can keep a good overview and communicate clearly.
- New members
As secretary, you will be in charge of the new members our department gets. You welcome new members with an e-mail and invite them to our upcoming activities. In addition, you inform new members about the possibility of joining our mail and WhatsApp group. There is also the possibility of setting up new member drinks - or activities once in a while.
- Taking minutes
You will be responsible for taking minutes during membership and board meetings. You ensure that the minutes are drawn up clearly and neatly, record new dates and then ensure that they are distributed to members. - E-mail
As secretary of the department, you have your own e-mail address. This is the e-mail address where you receive new member lists, among other things, and which you use for your communication as secretary. - Newsletter You will be responsible for writing and sending out the newsletter where you share activities and other news with members.
Treasurer (approx. 6 hours per week)
As treasurer, you will mainly deal with the financial affairs of the department. You will prepare a budget, manage the accounts, make declarations, arrange payments and manage the department's account. You are also in possession of our bank card (which only you may use). Within your role as treasurer, you will liaise with and report to the treasurer of DWARS nationwide. You will also work with our treasury committee (of which you are also a member), which may audit you and which will go over the financial policy with the department every two years (during the AAVs). As treasurer, it is important that you can work in an orderly and meticulous manner.

- E-mail
Like the secretary, the treasurer also has his or her own e-mail address. You will keep this and use it for DWARS-related communications.
- Other tasks
The duties of a treasurer may seem small but in addition to the financial duties you have, there is plenty of room to take on tasks such as organising major events.
General board member (approx. 6 hours per week)
As a general board member, you are mainly involved in organising activities (alone or with your fellow (board) members). As a general board member, it is important to possess organisational talent and communication skills.
- Organising activities
As a general board member, you will devise and set up activities. These might include discussion evenings or theme evenings for which you invite speakers or collaborate with other political youth organisations, for example, or organising drinks.
- Other tasks
Other tasks you can take on as a general board member include keeping up to date with the social media and newsletter, attending the group meetings of GroenLinks Rotterdam and co-organising our Month of Greening.
Other duties all board members
All board members deal with the following tasks:
- Organising activities
- Setting up and coordinating actions
- Campaigning - Maintaining social media - Being present at activities organised by the board
- Attendance at membership and board meetings
- Supporting each other in tasks
Sharing various tasks, for example attending GroenLinks's group meetings, overseeing committees, or organising a ward weekend are done by mutual agreement.
