Can you introduce yourself briefly?
Hey, I am Marijn Prins. I am a candidate for the Provincial Council of South Holland. I study Marketing or Social Business at Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences, and believe in a world where my generation (and many more after) can grow old healthy and happy.
How did you end up at DWARS?
I joined DWARS in August 2017. I joined DWARS after an inspiring gap year, during which I discovered that I felt it was important to leave the world better than how I had come into it. This was also just after the national elections, where I discovered that I actually knew absolutely nothing about politics! Fortunately, I couldn't vote yet. Then I decided it was indeed time to learn more about politics before the next elections.
Why did you run for the Provincial Assembly?
I think it is important for young people to get more in touch with politics. With this in mind and I became one of the South Holland campaign leaders, I also signed up for the list. I think young people are a lot more likely to get connected with politics if they see people their own age active in politics more often. This way, young people's voices will be heard more and more in the Netherlands.
What would you do if you end up in the Provincial Council?
If I came to the province, I would want to actively contribute to the future. Looking with the province for new innovative people, who have creative ideas to solve the various problems in South Holland. Important problems in this, of course, include the environment, transport and the housing market. I would like to help these people with subsidies, advice and any other help the province can offer, to try different solutions that the market can help with.
Got another great quote or one-liner?
You should always keep in mind that lots of little things add up to one big impact.
