DWARS LIMBURG FOR CHANGE: KARLIJN SOL

Change is one of the core values for DWARS. And what better way to bring about change than to take matters into your own hands and stand for election in the municipal elections? DWARS Limburg wants all Dwarse candidate councillors to speak about what they stand for and how they want to achieve it. Today's interview with Max Tollenaar, number 26 for the Roermond city council.

Tell us briefly about yourself.

I am Karlijn Sol, 22 years old and live in Echt. I graduated from my HBO degree in animal and animal husbandry in Wageningen/Velp last summer. I currently work full-time in online marketing. I am also chairman of our local GroenLinks branch and sit on the General Affairs committee as a support group.

How did you end up at DWARS?

At the time I joined GroenLinks and DWARS, DWARS Limburg was temporarily out of it, but given that I knew I would be moving to Wageningen for my studies I decided to actively join DWARS there.

Why are you running for the municipal elections?

To show that young and politics go together!

What do you want to achieve in the municipal council?

In our municipality, it is especially important to draw attention to issues that really matter to us as GroenLinks, the coalition was big over the past four years so you are happy with any steps you take. This, of course, includes making even bigger steps in the next four years. Personally, I make a little extra commitment to sustainable business and animal welfare.

Why should we vote for you?

Because the future is important, especially for young people. To ensure a good future, for everyone. It is precisely the voice of young people that is missing now. I want to and can make a difference in this.

Dilemma: Marketing or Politics?

When it comes to local politics, I still have to choose marketing. Although this is a true dilemma, there are so many different aspects to my work that I am happy to get back to it every day. It also allows me to express a lot of creativity.
