DWARS LIMBURG FOR CHANGE: SELMA QUINTEN
11 March 2018Change is one of the core values for DWARS. And what better way to bring about change than to take matters into your own hands and stand for election in the municipal elections? DWARS Limburg wants all Dwarse candidate councillors to talk about what they stand for and how they want to achieve it. Today the interview with Selma Quinten, number 25 for the municipal council in Sittard-Geleen.
Tell us briefly about yourself.
I am Selma Quinten, 17 years old and living in Obbicht. I am now in the fifth grade of grammar school and in my spare time I have a part-time job, I play sports and above all I am active for DWARS.
How did you end up at DWARS?
It all started with my huge interest in politics. I was soon attracted to GroenLinks. I then started looking further and so I decided to join GroenLinks's political youth organisation, DWARS.
Why are you running for the municipal elections?
The reason why I am running for the municipal elections is because I think the youth should also have a say in politics and have their voices heard. It is not for nothing that youth creates the future. Thus, we also ensure rejuvenation in the municipal council.
What do you want to achieve in the municipal council?
The thing I want to achieve in the municipal council is to ensure that young people also feel involved and interested in politics so that they increasingly realise that politics is also about them.
Why should we vote for you?
With my perseverance, decisiveness and ambition, I am the right person to represent your municipality. Because it is time for change.
Dilemma: the Randstad or beyond?
Out there, the Randstad is just a bit too crowded for me.
