About us

DWARS is the political youth organisation associated with GroenLinks: Green, Social and Liberal. The aim of DWARS is to put people on a pleasant way introduce them to politics. In addition, through contact with GroenLinks, media reports and actions, we try to raise Dutch influence politically. DWARS Leiden-Haaglanden is the local branch of DWARS for part of South Holland.

Founding

DWARS Leiden-Haaglanden was founded in autumn 2014 after a merger of the Hague and Leiden chapters. Both departments were no longer active, but it turned out there was still enough enthusiasm for a local department. A lot of preparatory work was done in 2014, and on 30 October the department could be officially established. We have since grown into a lively department with a large active core.

Municipalities

The department is mainly in Leiden, The Hague and Delft, but we also have smaller municipalities. Once every fortnight we organise an activity. We are also active in several GroenLinks branches in the region and cooperate a lot with other organisations. Our municipality that we want to put in the spotlight a bit more this year is our special cuddly municipality Zoetermeer!

Collaboration

We mainly work with the board and political groups of GroenLinks in The Hague, Leiden and Delft. We also occasionally look around the corner at other boards within our department. We also cooperate with the local chapters of the other political youth organisations (PJOs). Of course, it is fun to talk to people who see things from a different perspective and together we organise interesting content activities.
