DWARSers for the States: Anneke Kraamer
24 January 2019Young people are incredibly important for the province. That is why we let all DWARSe candidates from GroenLinks Zuid-Holland have their say with an interview! Today we chat with Anneke Kraamer, the smart girl in spot 14.
Can you introduce yourself?
I am Anneke, now 24, studying chemical engineering in Delft. I was born in Alphen aan den Rijn, and have lived in South Holland all my life. I love making music, and find sustainability through my studies very important-which is why I joined GroenLinks and DWARS. Oh yes, I also have a very sweet cat.
Can you tell something about your history at DWARS?
It all started when I did administration at the Delft student union in 2015 and 2016. In that year, I had a lot to do with politics. I knew W.K. (former president of the department) a bit, and went to demonstrate against the loan system in the last month of my board year. That's how I met DWARS, and got involved in municipal politics. I come from a GroenLinks nest, and have a green and left-wing heart, but despite having mostly left-wing values in the past, green has been rising in me more and more. Sustainability specifically. That is linked to the biggest problem we have now, and has a lot of effect on refugee issues, for example. Politics is an interesting game that could use more women and technicians!
Why did you run for the Provincial Assembly?
Because I wanted more young and tech on the list. And the province is a good place for sustainability. I can implement those ideals well at the province, and I want to show that I support GroenLinks. In doing so, I want to promote diversity within GroenLinks Zuid-Holland, and emphasise sustainability.
What would you do if you were elected?
Not counting on that, I would certainly be surprised! Anyway, I would obviously fight hard for sustainability, and look closely at where specifically I can do a lot. I would like to bring my chemistry background, and look at solutions to region-wide problems.
Got a great quote or one-liner?
Sometimes the truth just doesn't lie in the middle.
