Voor14 theme night: the minimum wage and why it must go up

The Netherlands is a gigantic rich country. Yet there are many Dutch people who, despite putting in a lot of hours and working hard, cannot make ends meet. The minimum wage does not grow with the economy, so the income of people on minimum wage has become 20% less valuable over the past 40 years. This while the profits of big companies invariably continue to grow. The minimum wage for a person aged 22 or over is now just barely a tenner!

This needs to change, of course, and For14 exists to do so. Voor14 is an initiative of the union FNV to raise the minimum wage to 14 euros. To make this happen, all kinds of actions will soon be organised. And as DWARSers, we naturally want to do our bit.

Therefore, on Wednesday 16 September, Endre Tanczos from the FNV will come and tell us more about Voor14 and the minimum wage, so that we know what we will soon be campaigning for! Afterwards, we will discuss this topic with each other.

So would you like to know more about the minimum wage, why it is so important that it goes up, and how you yourself can help? Then come along to this theme night!

The maximum number of registrations for this evening has been reached! Unfortunately, you can no longer register.
