Left Dicks: Privacy

In the Netherlands, we like to talk about our freedom. Very important is our freedom to exist without being constantly observed. Because as long as what we want to keep to ourselves is respected, we dare to be free. (Pirate Party)

In his book 1984, George Orwell plays with the idea of a political system where citizens are constantly watched and live in oppression. It's a system we clearly don't want to go to, but how is our privacy really doing?

Trix Mulder of the University of Groningen is currently writing her PhD thesis on privacy and health data. She will give an interesting lecture on privacy this edition of Links Lullen. What is the state of our privacy in the Netherlands? And why is privacy important to us? These are a few questions she will address. Afterwards, there will be time to discuss this fascinating topic.
