Harvesting trees with Youth For Climate Adaptation

Nature produces a glut of young trees and shrubs every year. Every oak, beech, hawthorn, willow, etc. produces thousands of seedlings every year. These serve an important function: they are eaten by wildlife and insects, some survive and are the new generation of trees and shrubs. But most do not make it. They die off and decay, thus contributing to the habitat, or they are removed and shredded as part of regular wildlife management.

That is why we are going on Saturday 6 November Harvesting seedlings together with Youth for Climate Adaptation! This time we are doing it in the City Park (Concourslaan 1) in Groningen. We will start at 09.30 hour and end at 15.00 hour.

It is a campaign by the MEERGroen Foundation, Caring Farmers and Urgenda to give away 1 million trees for free next winter.

Your shovel will be arranged for you if you have signed up. Furthermore, it is useful to bring warm clothes that can also get dirty and put on your boots and gardening gloves. Don't forget to bring your lunch too!

You can register via this page. Hope to see you on Saturday!
