It's that time again, the board applications for a board year 2022/2023 are open! Would you like to get involved in our beautiful department? Then apply now!

As a board member of DWARS Groningen, you will, among other things, organise interesting lectures, convivial drinks and major societal actions. This way, you can immerse yourself very well in the content of politics, but you also experience a lot of sociability! Furthermore, it is a good way to develop yourself and gain management experience.

You can apply by sending your CV and a cover letter to kandidatencommissie.groningen@dwars.org. The deadline for this is 15 May 2022. The text below provides some more information on the content of the different positions, so you can see which one suits you best.
The new board members will be on the general departmental meeting be elected in June. You may also apply for multiple positions.

President
The chairman is the face of DWARS Groningen. Both internally and externally, you are
the first point of contact. Your main task is to ensure that the board performs and can carry out its tasks. In addition, as chairman, you maintain an overview within the board. The chairman is therefore an organised person. You make sure that other board members do their work well and keep an eye on whether this happens. You can give constructive criticism and thus encourage people.
As chairman, you are always concerned with putting extra attention on Drenthe and the province of Groningen outside the city. Because we can always go to the GroenLinks premises in the city of Groningen, these are sometimes forgotten.
In addition, the chairman is a point of contact for people outside the department. For instance, the chairman liaises with the national board and other committees of DWARS. As chairman, you have contact with other political youth organisations and the Groninger Politiek Jongeren Kontakt, the umbrella organisation here in Groningen. You also ensure good contact with GroenLinks boards and factions at local and provincial level. Furthermore, as chairman, you are the spokesperson for the press. So it is important that you are good and
can convincingly proclaim the opinion of DWARS, even at unexpected times.
A good chairman is enthusiastic and goes for it 100 per cent. In this role, you can
a lot of time. You spend about 15 to 20 hours a week on this.

Secretary
The secretary is responsible for matters related to administration and communication of the department. As secretary, you ensure formal communication between the board and members. The secretary therefore manages contact through the newsletter, social media, WhatsApp, the mail and the website. You ensure that the bylaws and regulations are followed by the board and take minutes (notes) during meetings. The secretary is also responsible for keeping records in, for example, subscribing and deregistering
new members. It is important for the secretary position that the person has good and understandable writing skills. In addition, experience in using social media and managing a website is an advantage. The secretary constantly has many small tasks which means the secretary needs to be flexible with when this person can devote time to DWARS. The position costs
About 10 to 15 hours a week.

Treasurer
The treasurer is responsible for managing the money affairs of the department. This means that the treasurer must keep track of expenditure during the year. The treasurer determines whether plans of the board and committees are financially feasible. To this end, the treasurer draws up a budget. In addition, the treasurer consults with, for example, DWARS nationwide and the Groninger Politiek Jongeren Kontakt (GPJK) on the income of
the department. It is important for the treasurer to be able to properly estimate how much money can be spent. The treasurer also takes into account any financial bad luck. For this job, you should not be afraid of numbers and have some technical insight. You must also dare to be strict when necessary and be good at applying the rules. This position costs around 10 to 15
hours per week.

Organisation and Members
As board member Organisation and Members, you are the liaison between the members and committees and the board. In this position, you have a lot of contact with the active members of the department. You will ensure
For a good relationship between the committees and the board. You consult with the board on the committees' plans and relay to the members the board's advice. You also try to keep the committees full of energy and seek new members for the committees. As an Organisation and Members board member, you attend committee meetings, but you may also choose to delegate committees to other board members. It is important that even though you can hand off committees to other board members, you keep an overview of the committees. Currently, we have the GezelCie, the Editorial and PolitiCie and working groups for major activities. For this position, it is important that you are easy to get along with people as you have a lot of contact with active members. In addition, it is important that this board member is confident when looking for new members for the committees. You have an eye for DWARSe core values such as inclusion and diversity, and do your best to make sure everyone feels welcome at DWARS. Furthermore, it is important that the board member Organisation and Members is enthusiastic, as this will also make members in committees enthusiastic. This position takes about 10 to 15 hours a week.

Political Secretary
The political secretary is responsible for the political visibility of DWARS Groningen.
Your main task is to organise political actions. These are actions through which you express DWARS's opinion in a serious or playful way. Examples include writing a press release or crafting a huge train. The rest of the board will help you, of course, but you are responsible for the organisation. It is important that you keep a close eye on the (local) news
holds. In doing so, you constantly look at how we as DWARS Groningen can respond to local political issues. You also liaise with other PJOs to set up activities and actions together. The political secretary has a passion for (local) politics. You are incisive and not easily put off. You dare to shock. Of course, the political secretary is not alone. Your fellow board members help and
always think along. However, you are ultimately responsible for the political
visibility of DWARS Groningen. The position takes about 10 to 15 hours per week.
