Occupation Academy building: SUCCESS!

To demand that the University of Groningen take its responsibilities regarding the housing crisis, we occupied the steps of the Academy Building yesterday together with DAG and ROOD, among others! Finally, towards the end of the evening, these demands were granted by the board! The university agreed to the following four demands:
- All emergency accommodation will be free of charge
- University scales down growth ambition
- Empty offices are converted into residential space
- The university will speak out against the growth-oriented funding model
To demand that the University of Groningen takes its responsibility concerning the housing shortage, DWARS, together with DAG and ROOD, occupied the Academy Building yesterday. Later in the night, the board of the university agreed to our four demands:
- All of the university's emergency housing will be made available for free at once
- The university promises not to accept even more students next year. First solutions for the severe crisis should be found
- The university will negotiate turning empty offices into student housing with the local municipal council
- The university will publicly speak out against the current growth-oriented allocation model of higher education
