Fun evening with “Against elections” reading group”

Last night (12/09/2016), our reading group discussed “Against Elections” by David van Reybrouck. In this book, Van Reybrouck proposes replacing parliamentary elections with drawing lots.

Our verdict: “Although there are quite a few objections to drawing lots, this book did make us think about our current democracy. Especially now that the election campaign and the accompanying media hysteria have erupted in full force, it is good to realise that elections are certainly not the only democratic means.”
