On Thursday 14 December, the AC is organising a special activity - a tour of the waste-to-energy plant in Weurt! This is where the waste we all produce is converted into energy. It is one of the few energy-producing companies in the Netherlands and in the world that generates energy purely by using secondary fuels (waste), as well as producing these secondary fuels itself by processing waste. Not only is electricity generated using modern techniques, residual heat and green gas are also supplied to external customers for heating residential areas and for use in public transport in Nijmegen. And all this to minimise our environmental impact.
