During this theme night, we will discuss the use of laboratory animals in science. Why and how are animals used to answer scientific questions? How far are we with alternative methods and is an animal-free world a utopia or the future? The Netherlands has expressed its ambition to be a leader in the field of animal-free inovations, but what is the role of politics in this field?
To learn more about this topic, Prof Dr Merel Ritskes-Hoitinga and Dr Judith van Luijk will talk about their work on animal testing in education, research and policy-making. In addition, they are both involved in the EU Joint Research Centre project to develop e-learning to get alternative methods implemented faster in practice. The walk-in is at 19:30 and we will start at 20:00.
