🍉Palestine-Israel evening with GroenLinks-WG48🍉

We see the terrible images from Gaza every day. The Palestinian people are victims of a war where human rights violations are the order of the day, and where the United Nations recognises features of genocide while the International Court of Justice calls on Israel to do all it can to prevent genocide. More than 30,000 Palestinians have already been killed since the war began.
The violence of war must stop, large-scale aid and care must go to Gaza, and the Palestinian people deserve freedom, rights and self-determination.

DWARS Gelderland organises together with Werkgroep48 and JS Arnhem-Nijmegen, with support from GroenLinks Nijmegen and PvdA Nijmegen, a theme evening on Israel-Palestine During this evening we will be taken through the history of this area and the oppression of the Palestinians. We will also discuss this with each other. We hope you can join us, register below.

Additional information on the evening:

This evening will feature a presentation on the 100-year political history of the Palestine-Israel conflict in historic Palestine. This presentation is based on factual evidence and research, particularly of Israeli archives, by Israeli and Palestinian historians. It examines the oppression and resistance of the Palestinian people since the British Mandate, the ‘Arab Revolt’ second half of the 1930s, the creation of the State of Israel in 1948 and the accompanying ethnic cleansing, the wars thereafter, Palestinian resistance, the 1967 occupation of Gaza and the West Bank, the various intifadas. Plenty of material. Brief mention is also made of what happened afterwards up to and including the events at the end of last year. The presentation will be given by Peter Laban of the Working Group 48-Palestine at GroenLinks Wageningen. Peter has worked and lived in Palestine for almost 20 years. He has worked in Gaza, the West Bank and surrounding countries. He also got to know the situation in Palestine well through other work, including at Oxfam, and studies for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the region.
