Tackling climate problems we do together!
Only how do we do that if big companies like Shell, KLM and BP keep emitting? Even in the most favourable situations, all these companies together are far from achieving the climate goals. These big polluters cause more than half of the emissions, making it almost impossible to achieve our goals! Consequently, it is precisely these kinds of rich big companies that have the greatest impact on climate issues. And it is precisely minorities and low-income people around the world who are directly affected. Farmers in the global south often do not have the means to protect their crops from long droughts or downpours. Some islands in the Pacific have already disappeared, and with the current sea level rise, many more will follow. These consequences will also be visible in the Netherlands through, for example, heat stress in older people, lower agricultural yields and water shortages. The price of many basic necessities such as water, food and heat will rise everywhere as a result, making it increasingly difficult for lower-income residents to make ends meet.
Together, we are tackling climate problems, because there is no climate justice without social justice. Retrieved from 26 January at 5pm, we will gather at the ‘Love’ sculpture opposite the station. From here, we will walk through the centre, concluding with powerful speakers and music.
We hope to see you here! And bring as many people as possible!
