Support the DWARS-JS motion at the joint congress!
10 June 2025Over the past few months, together with the JS, we have been working to define our vision for the new merger party through member participation. To this end, we have written a pamphlet that will be presented at the congress, but that's not all! To also put our pamphlet to a vote at the joint congress, we have written this motion. You can support the motion at the bottom of this page
Motion: Our future, our vision
Noting that:
- Young people, the working class and other vulnerable groups bear the brunt of decades of neoliberal government policies, including liberalising the housing market, cutting education and pushing forward the resolution of the climate crisis;
- Young people, the working class and other vulnerable groups have no security on their future due to these short-term policies that only benefit the rich class;
- Our wider society is facing enormous challenges such as the climate crisis, huge wealth and income inequality, the housing crisis, institutional racism, social inequality, the rise of the far right,
- These challenges are symptoms of the current capitalist system;
- The current capitalist system involves the systematic exploitation of people and nature and that this exploitation benefits only the very top layer of society;
Whereas:
- The current capitalist system underlies the great challenges of our time;
- For young people, the working class and other vulnerable groups, but also more broadly for our society and our planet, it is essential to address these major challenges of our time;
- It is important to recognise that the current capitalist system is the root cause behind the major problems of our time;
- We need to move towards a system in which a radically fair distribution of knowledge, power and income is central.
- We need to move towards a system where solidarity with people and nature is central, strengthening political democracy and democratising the economy;
- To change the current system, we as a left movement need to be in touch with trade unions, civil society organisations and activist movements.
Congress pronounces that:
- The current capitalist system underlies many of today's issues such as the climate crisis, housing crisis, income inequality and discrimination;
Requests the Senate Group, House of Representatives Group and European Group to:
Actively and continuously advocate for systemic change, centred on solidarity with people and nature and a radically fair distribution of knowledge, power and income.
