Response GL-PvdA Election Programme
18 August 2025Response of DWARS and the JS to GroenLinks-PvdA election manifesto
Today, GroenLinks-PvdA launched its election programme presented. In it, we see strong social points and sometimes sharp systemic criticism, but note that more attention is needed for climate justice, international solidarity and peace.
We commend the programme for taking clear steps towards a more social Netherlands. For instance, public housing becomes a public task again - housing as a right, not a revenue model. We also appreciate, among other things, the proposals for a mandatory internship allowance of €750 per month and the recognition of rainbow families, making multi-parenthood possible.
Yet we see that GroenLinks-PvdA is not daring to realise its ambitions everywhere. Free public transport is missing, and the climate plan does not pay enough attention to climate justice. The energy transition must not again be at the expense of people and nature in the global south. Industry that cannot go green must disappear. We now lack that guts in the programme.
We are also concerned about defence policy. GroenLinks-PvdA commits to the NATO norm of 3.5% of GDP for defence. We see a need for more European cooperation and targeted investment on defence. However, staring dead on percentages and more weapons does not lead to more security. The Netherlands must focus on diplomacy and cooperation with the global south. Only then will we work towards a world without war.
If we dream of peace, will we do it?
Fortunately, we are part of a democratic party. Over the next two weeks, we can write and submit amendments to make the programme redder, greener, and purple. Would you like to submit amendments together with DWARS and the JS. Then come to the writing day on 23 August or the writing night at August 26.
