The organisational structure committee sent a survey a few months ago to all members of the JS and DWARS. A key conclusion from this was that a high travel time to departmental activities was a reason for many members not to attend. The precise figures in this regard:

How many minutes are you willing to travel to a JS/DWARS activity?
More than an hour: 13,37%
Between 30 and 60 minutes: 42,55%
Between 15 and 30 minutes: 37,39%
Up to 15 minutes: 6,69%

Based on this and the membership numbers per municipality of JS and DWARS combined, the committee sought ways to get as many people as possible within half an hour of a departmental core (place with many members and therefore where most activities are likely to go take place) and ensure that as few people as possible live more than an hour have to travel.

For the province of Limburg, the majority live in South Limburg (Heerlen, Maastricht and Sittard-Geleen), with Venlo being the only municipality outside South Limburg with more than 10 members and Maastricht is by far the largest core with more than 2x as many members as the next municipality. This means that most of the activities of this department likely to be in South Limburg. Also coming out of member participation relatively often was the comment that the Limburg section as it currently exists is too long to function properly for all parts of the province.

The committee based its proposal mainly on accessibility for (minor) members and has therefore looked at travel distance for borders in NorthLimburg. This means that in the commission's proposal, the municipalities are divided on Based on travel distance (by public transport) to Maastricht, Eindhoven and Nijmegen.

Member participation
Different opinions and preferences emerged during the public participation evening what concerns cultural differences between regions, something the committee therefore paid less attention to.

The committee believes it is important to make an informed choice and for that reason Through this survey, we would like to know at which department the municipality where you live best connected, according to you can become. We also often got the concern from the public participation evenings that this would reduce participation at regions/provinces would make it more difficult, including in Limburg. We have heard this and we are going to ensuring that there is a way in which current forms of participation remain intact.

We are also going to ensure that all members in a province, whatever department it is part of, can be involved in provincial participation in the parent party. For this, we will still cannot present a proposal at the next congress but can at the mid-term or
founding congress.

This form can be completed until Thursday 30 October at 17:00.
