TRAJECT 27 - Young Socialists // DWARS🌻🌹

The Young Socialists and DWARS are organising the first joint training course! In February we will start the training programme for the Provincial Council and Water Board elections. Together we will organise 7 training days where experts from both the Provincial Councils and Water Boards will explain to the participants all about what it is like to be in the Provincial Councils and Water Boards. We also focus on skills needed by young members of the States and water boards.
During the course we will talk about applying for a job, writing a good letter, campaigning internally, how a province and water board works, learning to read documents, debating and negotiating. In addition, we conclude with a simulation day where we imitate a province.
Who can join?
Anyone under 28 who is a member of DWARS and the JS. It is possible to apply and only become a member later if you are selected. If you join permanently, we expect you to be a member.
I am not sure yet whether I want to run for the Provincial Council or the Water Boards.Â
It doesn't matter! Whether you are in doubt between the Water Boards or the Provincial Councils or do not yet know at all whether you want to stand as a candidate in 2027. Do indicate it if you are already sure you will not stand as a candidate in 2027.
Practical information
Because the course is intensive and a lot of energy is put into setting up TRAJECT27, you are expected to be able to attend 5 out of 7 training days. If you attend 5 out of 7 training days you will receive the certificate. The training days will be full days. We often start between 10 and 11 and finish around 4.
These are the training days:
- Saturday, 28 February
- Saturday, 7 March
- Saturday 21 March
- Saturday 11 April
- Saturday 18 April
- Saturday 16 May
- Saturday, 30 May
The training days will often be in Utrecht or The Hague. You may claim travel expenses by ov, if you go by car it will be in consultation with the treasurers of DWARS or the JS depending on where you will claim your travel expenses. The training programme itself is free of charge.
I'm excited, now what?
How nice! Step 1 is to write your cover letter and get your CV in order. It doesn't matter if you don't have an extensive CV, we will mainly look at what kind of background you come in with and what kind of cover letter you write. Write your cover letter in the form of how you would write a real cover letter if you were applying for the Provincial Council or the Water Boards. State why you want to join the programme, what you hope to learn, what you would like to achieve in the Provincial Councils or Water Boards and what your motivation is for applying for regional politics. Address your motivation letter (max 1 a4) to Soesha Sandker and Kirsten Pluim.
The application opens on 1 December 2025Â and closes 12Â January 2026.
