No Man is Illegal!
04 July 2025Statement by DWARS and the JS on the asylum laws passed
Being human should never become illegal! Last night, the House of Representatives passed two degrading laws. With these, the right is attacking the very weakest in our society. People who are no longer welcome anywhere are now punished because they have nowhere to go. But for the right that wasn't good enough, they were afraid there would be solidarity left in the Netherlands. That is also why they made sure that helping the people who need it most was banned.
We find it bizarre that the laws won a majority. No one chooses to have to flee. No one deserves to be excluded from humanity. No one is illegal!
The idea that you will soon be punishable if you help someone is incomprehensible. This is not the Netherlands we believe in.
Just when it is desperately needed, we stand up. For solidarity. For humanity. For everyone. And we continue to stand, even when they try to ban it!
So, do you give a bowl of soup, or do you close the door and pull down the curtains?
