DWARS gives cabinet inadequate for adjustments to Sleep Act

17 April 2018

The cabinet is not taking the outcome of the dragnet referendum seriously. Just now, the coalition parties, CDA, VVD, ChristenUnie and D66, voted against a motion to remove the dragnet from the law. And yet this is precisely the biggest objection to the new law. In addition, the policy rules announced by Minister Ollongren ignore most other objections. "The voters have given a clear signal to this cabinet that there should be a different law. The cabinet had a chance to amend this law according to the will of the people but chose not to amend the law sufficiently. This shows that this cabinet does not take the voters seriously," said chairman Bas van Weegberg. We call on everyone who voted against the dragnet law to properly remember this choice by the cabinet and, at the next elections, to vote for parties that are truly committed to our privacy.
