PJO Parliament

PJO Parliament

Would you like to debate with members of other political youth organisations (PJOs)? Do you always watch debates in the Lower House and think: that's where I want to be one day? This is your chance!

During the PJO Parliament, you develop your debating skills. You meet people outside your own political bubble. But above all, it is also your chance to express your leftist and progressive ideals. We will debate topics such as climate, healthcare, economy and much more. Participating in this event is free, there is an option to stay overnight.

Topics

The debates cover education, sustainability, economy and social issues. For each topic, you can see below which themes will be covered:

  • Education: Teacher quality, social service, use of digital resources in education.
  • Sustainability: Excise tax on high-carbon products, import tax on high-carbon countries, climate adaptation.
  • Economics: tax rebates for full-time workers, tax rates large companies, transfer tax on houses with poor energy label.
  • Social Affairs: basic income, affordable housing, own risk in healthcare.

Selection process

There are 16 spots in the DWARSe group. This is how we divide the spots:

  1. Anyone wishing to participate can apply until the deadline (see below).
  2. The National Board forms a committee from among their members. The committee will select participants from the applications. The decision is made on behalf of the entire Country Board.
  3. The committee pays attention to two points:
3a. The group is the best possible reflection of society, with a mix of (among others) educational backgrounds, practical and theoretical graduates, women/x/men, and different backgrounds.
3b. The group forms a mix of experienced members and inexperienced members.
  4. Everyone who applied will hear the results within a week of the deadline.
