Statement on harassment action FDF
12 December 2025Yesterday morning, 30 provincial council members in Brabant had their doorbells rung by a bailiff. This as an act of intimidation by FDF. In the case of GroenLinks's parliamentary group leader Jade van der Linden, this happened at 7:51am.
The letter demands that councillors from the six coalition parties (VVD, GL/PvdA, SP, D66 & Lokaal Brabant) vote against the province's agriculture and nitrogen plans today.
This action is an attack on our free democracy in which elected representatives of the people are allowed to make what they think are the right choices for our province freely and without any intimidation. This form of agro-terrorism has no place in our country, our province and our democracy.
Unfortunately, it does fit into a broader picture of FDF's actions.
A statement came out this morning from the political groups of the North Brabant Provincial Council. In it, the group chairmen and the king's commissioner make a joint fist and condemn these dirty intimidation tactics. It is nice to see that the coalition and opposition stand strong together on this.
One party was missing from this statement.
Forum for Democracy
Jozef Minkels is the only group leader missing from the statement. Not surprising since FvD leader Lidewij de Vos will be present at an FDF protest today at the provincial government building. FVD Supports this attack on our democracy.
For now, our focus is on the 30 state members who have been harassed by FDF. We hope for their sake that the harassment stops, and that they can carry out their work in safety. And, of course, without threat in their personal lives. And our hope is that a fair vote for our future can be held in the Provincial Council today.
