Departments weekend

13 November 2021

On Saturday 30 and Sunday 31 October, the DWARS Brabant-Zeeland department went on a departmental weekend in Arnhem! This weekend is organised by DWARS nationwide for all department directors. During this weekend, training sessions are attended, inspiration is gained and department directors from different departments get to know each other better.

Training
All our board members have attended various training courses. Emma, for example, took training on social media and Elma on organising activities and member retention. Damon learned more about activism and campaigning. Very useful, of course, with the local elections coming up!

Rick, like Brechje and Damon, attended leadership training and attended the chairmen's meeting with the other department chairs. Brechje attended the treasurer's meeting on financial matters and Jamie attended the secretaries' meeting on privacy and membership records.

Brechje and Jamie attended a training on diversity and inclusiveness. This training covered making activities more accessible, as well as understandable language.

During the politics training, we learnt more about how to make political impact and how to get potential international members more involved in the department.

Conviviality and inspiration
Besides the training sessions, fortunately there was also plenty of time for socialising! We got to know other departmental boards better and got inspired. Hopefully, we can organise more activities in the future in cooperation with the other departmental boards.

All in all, we had a very informative and successful weekend!
