Departmental Congress

On Sunday 28 November, the departmental congress (AAV*) of DWARS Brabant-Zeeland took place. Due to corona, the departmental congress unfortunately took place online. Nevertheless, fortunately quite a few members were present online (more than in this photo).
During the AAV, all board members gave their account of the past months and a number of questions were asked by the members present. Our treasurer Brechje also explained the budget. Members asked good, critical questions about this too.
In addition, a general board member was elected at the AAV: Elma Mujakic. Elma has been an interim general board member for the past few months and will continue to work for our department for the next six months. We are looking forward to working with Elma over the next six months!
No motions were tabled during the departmental congress. However, we did have two very interesting speakers as guests: Tom Ludwig and Rob van Hal.
Tom Ludwig is the new group chairman of GroenLinks North Brabant, where he deals with issues such as the environment, environmental laws and enforcement. At the section congress, he told us more about his work as group chairman. Afterwards, there was room for questions from members.
Rob van Hal is regional coordinator of the Brabant-Limburg region at Amnesty. He has worked as a country specialist in Congo, where he worked hard to build human rights. He told us more about how we can take action for human rights ourselves, at both national and international levels. There was also room for questions from members after this. Besides the formal part, there was of course room for conviviality. During the breaks and after-dinner drinks, people talked about all kinds of things, but DWARS would not be DWARS if it did not also talk about politics.
